The best way to find assistance close to you is through 211, a platform that can connect you with a full range of non-emergency social, health and government services in your community. To access 211, simply dial “2-1-1” on your telephone or visit www.211.org. 211 is supported by Unted Way.
If 211 service is not available in your area, your local United Way can also help connect you with programs and resources in your community
Red Cross
A wide range of community support services are offered by the Red Cross throughout Canada to provide daily supports to older adults, vulnerable people, and their caregivers. Find information about community support services in your area.
Salvation Army
The Salvation Army gives hope and support to vulnerable people in 400 communities across Canada and in 134 countries, including housing and shelters, emergency disaster services, thrift stores, and social services. Social services includes: camps; addiction services; correctional and justice services; domestic abuse; youth services; family services; mental health services; modern slavery & human trafficking.
Goodwill
Goodwill is a thrift store where you can find discounted previously-owned items. Find a store near you. Did you know? Goodwill also provides employment and employment services, complete with skills training, credentialing and access to education.
